Week 2 Thursday Night Preview

September 17, 2020 By Bloggin Hood

In the process of trying to cover just about 80% of fantasy relevant players on Tuesday, I forgot to include the Thursday Night preview. That’s arguably the most important part. A standout job by me , as always.

I’m going to do a quick write up on how confident I am in the main players in the game. Next week, this will be part of the week 2 recap. Maybe instead, I’ll forget about running backs instead.

Cleveland VS Cincinnati

You can’t say the NFL doesn’t give the fans what they want on Thursdays. Two angry fanbases tired of losing in what will almost assuredly be two more losing seasons. If there was ever a game that screamed “unsatisfying tie”, this is it. Can we get the Jets involved for a 3 team game and guarantee the disappointment?

Auto Starts: Joe Mixon.

Probable Starts

Kareem Hunt – Looked better than Nick Chubb after week 1. If he gets more snaps tonight, this seals him being the lead back.

Nick Chubb – It’s not what you wanted if you drafted him but he should still see double digit carries and has a good chance of scoring. If he scores and the snap share is still ugly, consider trying to trade Chubb high. I’m proud I avoided a dick joke there.

Playable

Odell Beckham Jr – I mean, if he’s going to explode, it would be in the #2 game of the year, right? Beckham has 10 targets, but only 3 receptions. Even if it’s all on Baker (and isn’t that convenient?), we don’t get points for “crisp routes” and “being open”. If Beckham can’t produce here, it’s a problem.

AJ Green – Managed 9 targets in week 1 and the Browns’ secondary is banged up. Seems like a solid play.

Jarvis Landry – Appears to be the one target Baker Mayfield connects with. Only reservation is he didn’t play too many snaps in week one recovering from hip surgery. Double check his status later today. If there’s any doubt, sit him. In a 12 team league, you have other WR options.

Would Bench

Tyler Boyd – You could play him, but after 5 targets, I’d rather see a big game on my bench than a dud in my lineup. If your team is injured, like 75% of teams, it’s ok, but I’d be surprised beyond a 6-70 line.

Everyone else – I mean, who else is there? Austin Hooper? He was targeted less than a Browns rookie TE last week. You aren’t playing either QB here outside of 2 QB leagues and everyone else isn’t relevant for fantasy.

Browns Def – I’ve seen this as a popular stream idea. Joe Burrow made a couple of poor decisions in week 1, but he debuted without any preseason games. All things considered, he was solid. The Browns secondary is hurt, and only got 3 days between games. I don’t like this. Sure, Thursday night games tend to be low scoring, but there’s too much risk for me.

Enjoy the disappointing tie everyone.
