Thursday Night Fantasy Football Preview – Jets Vs Broncos
October 1, 2020I’m extremely excited about tonight’s game. No, really I am.
Ok, I’m not excited about the game, but I am excited at the prospect of Adam Gase being fired immediately after a 31-7 loss. Imagine seeing Gase getting a pink slip on the field as he tries to leave the field. Oh, I couldn’t dream of a better ending to tonight. I certainly can’t dream of a good team.
The football is going to be horrific. Like seriously, if you have anything else you remotely have to do, I’d do that instead. Maybe make up a few chores, or cancel your cable at 8 PM, and then call back and try to get it re-installed. That would be WAY more fun.
Auto Start
Melvin Gordon – Frequent readers/listeners know I’m not a big fan of Melvin Gordon. He’s an inefficient, volume based player who struggles at the goal line. In fact, when Phillip Lindsay was active in week 1, Gordon was splitting touches, and was briefly benched after a fumble. Then, Lindsay got turf toe and Gordon became the guy, providing mediocre results and the occasional TD. Despite Lindsay potentially playing, and the Jets being, on paper, good against the run, you have to play Gordon. The Broncos will be running the ball a lot, and Gordon should be targeted. If someone has to score, and 0-0 is in play, Gordon is the most likely candidate.
Noah Fant – Perhaps you picked up Fant when George Kittle got hurt and you can’t fit Fant in your lineup. Congrats, you the fantasy TE 1%. But for the rest of us poor common folk, Fant is one of the strongest plays of the week. The Jets haven’t covered a TE this decade, and Fant is the #1 target on the team. Be like Dion Waiters – no hesitation.
Great Starts
Jerry Jeudy – The judge may not have the best QB play, but he gets to go against a secondary who couldn’t cover leftovers with any consistency. There’s a little risk, but if you can’t play Jeudy in this matchup, when will you?
Broncos Defense – Have you seen the Jets? I know, the Broncos have some injuries. But have you seen the Jets? This is one of the best plays of the year.
Jets Defense – Look, I get it. I wouldn’t feel good about it. I don’t feel good writing this. But have you heard of the Broncos starting QB before Sunday? No, you haven’t, unless you went to college with the dude. So there’s a good chance tonight is like a punt pass and kick contest, without the kicking and a lot of poor passing. So it’s like a really crappy punt, pass, kick contest. I don’t know if you’ll get a ton of turnovers, but I think it’s relatively safe.
Ok Starts
Jamison Crowder – He might not be active, but if he plays, I assume he’ll receive 10+ targets and be a good PPR play. But hopefully you have more than this. Adam Gase seems like the type of coach who would sit a guy for several weeks, and throw him back in still hurt to save his job.
Desperation Heaves
Phillip Lindsay – Questionable for tonight, this is too risky for my taste. He may be in a timeshare, at best, and probably isn’t 100%. I would pass.
Braxton Berrios – If Jamison Crowder is out, sure, if you hate yourself, I could see it. Otherwise, no, don’t do this.
Frank Gore – Unless you desperately need about 6.4 points. I guess he could score, maybe, at you squint. But otherwise, I’d pass.
Anyone Else – NO. DONT.
