February 14, 2019Oh, hello there. Didn’t see you log in. Perhaps you’re here frantically checking in for the next Game of Thrones Episode review. Perhaps you’re here because you wanted more historical information on Robin Hood, and failed typing tremendously. Let’s assume you’re here for the former. Humor me a bit.
So about that… I have some good news and some bad news about Bloggin Hood. Let’s start with the bad news first because I’m a man full of positivity.
I’d like to give you a lengthy list of reasons why reviews have take as long as they have, but I don’t really have anything other than the plan was too ambitious. As a bit of inside baseball, it took roughly 4-5 hours to prepare one review. Watching and note taking just one episode was nearly 90 minutes a pop and that was assuming it wasn’t a bonus length episode. Then I had to edit the notes to a readable format, add comments to said notes, and then proofread it (don’t laugh. This is what my work looks like after proofreading. You don’t want to see what it looks like before). Couple that to my actual, real life job needing an influx of extra hours to cover various levels of disasters, and it became harder and harder to churn out anything but malice and several swears.
I think my aim to not miss a thing in each episode really hurt the project overall. I was taking 5-6 pages of notes per episode, and while the majority of it made it in the post, it just didn’t feel as fun as I had hoped. That was kind of the death blow – once I started season four, it felt like a total chore. I never wanted this site to be that. I want it to be off the wall complaining about things that make little sense. Instead, the recap were becoming too rigid, too time consuming, and honestly, too brutal to continue. I could barely look at Dany when she got on screen. What straight male ever said that before?
In case you haven’t figured it out by now, and it could be partially due to typos, I’m cancelling the remainder of the GOT reviews. I don’t think I’d come close to finishing it before season 8 began, and even if I did, what would the point of it all be if it was rushed and not good? So yeah, if you’ve been reading along, I do apologize. But I’d rather give what I consider quality content than some hastily put together garbage.
There is a difference on this site, I swear.
Now, this doesn’t mean there won’t be any more GOT content. Far from it. I’m going to finish watching the episodes, and as we inch closer and closer to the premier, I plan on giving some predictions on whats to come. When that last trailer drops, and you know it will soon, maybe I’ll give an analysis. We’re not done by any means.
Now, for the good news. There’s a lot of content that I do want to write, and I think putting the review on the shelf will really help that. I want to get back to what this site is all about – ranting angrily at random things nobody should care about. I have about 10 topics on my mind already, and without spoiling anything, you can start expecting those soon.
In addition to normal rants, I have some Smash Brothers write ups in the works. I mean, you couldn’t expect me not to write about Smash, could you? I’m thinking character reviews, 1-2 at a time. The main difference between this and GOT reviews is I don’t need to be detailed to know if somebody has good projectiles or a great set of tilts. I think these could fly off the fingertips and into your heart.
We’ll also have a preview of the 2019 Mets season, who certainly can’t go astray. With a team loaded with former all stars and pitchers with injury probes histories, what in the world could go wrong? You’ll be surprised to know I have a few thoughts on them.
The important thing is new posts are coming soon. How soon you ask? How about you let me finish my thoughts first… Geez.
The major hurdle I want to tackle before posting regularly is the vast amounts of Spam littering my site. There are now thousands of fake followers, who, while boosting counting stats, don’t really help. I don’t need readers to get attacked by bots. I have to play around with the filters and see how it works. It might make commenting difficult, but I expect that’ll probably only affect Will Karlet anyway. Maybe it’ll force human people to sign up. Who knows? All I know is despite the arousing content this site producers, we don’t need 1,000 bots trying to sell the readers small blue pills.
Have some dignity people.
Let’s target March 1st as the revival date, but don’t hold me too that in either direction. I’m hoping for significantly sooner. We’ll be back to scheduled Peppa Pig hating, Bran insulting and Darkwing Duck praising, very soon.
